At SHOT Show 2025, we stopped by the Canik Firearms booth, where Aaron introduced us to the newest addition to the MC9 lineup—the Mete MC9 Prime.

Canik Mete MC9 Prime Overview

Building on the success of the Mete MC9, the Prime edition takes everything great about the original and refines it even further.

Federal Premium Ammunition

We spoke with Chris, product manager for handgun ammunition with Federal Premium, who ran through a few new things they’ve been developing for the handgun product lines.

These include HST 44 Rem. Magnum, Hydra-Shok Deep, and Power-Shok to name a few.

With a heavy focus on personal defense, Federal wants to ensure everybody can get the best load possible for the firearm they carry – regardless of what caliber that might be.

NEW PRODUCT LINES

HST’s new 44 Rem Magnum load has been optimized for personal defense. It provides more energy than 10mm Auto and 357 Magnum with a larger diameter, 230-grain projectile.

However, it has better control and less overpenetration than a full-magnum 44 Rem. Mag. hunting load.

Hydra-Shok Deep will now be offered in 45 Colt and 32 H&R.

he modern defense projectiles in these new loads are optimized to offer the best terminal performance for these specific cartridges, with controlled expansion that perfectly balances expansion size and penetration depth.

Power-Shok Handgun will now be offered in 10mm Auto. This short-barrel performance goes the distance.

Handgun hunters get the power and accuracy they need with a jacketed hollow-point bullet suited to a variety of medium and big game.

American Eagle 32 H&R - Hit your target and train harder with this proven line. It provides performance similar to self-defense and competition loads for a familiar feel and realistic practice.

While exploring SHOT Show, we stopped by the Taurus booth and got the chance to chat with Matt, who introduced us to their latest release – the Taurus GX2.

First up, was the Spec Series V M&P 9 Metal HD Pistol.

Built for enhanced performance, this is the fifth iteration of the M&P Spec Series and the pistol features a Strike Industries compensator, a steel frame with enhanced texturing, a steel magwell, and steel optic cover plate.

Additionally, the package also includes three 23-round magazines, a Spec Series knife, and a commemorative challenge coin.

Next, Dave walked us through the all-new Lever Action Stealth Hunter Rifle - A bold new take on the classic lever-action platform.

When it comes to new releases, this one had me genuinely excited. I had the chance to meet with Mike Humphries, Springfield Armory’s media relations manager, who gave us a full rundown on their all-new Prodigy Conceal Line.

Product Overview

Springfield Armory has taken the iconic 1911 DS platform and tailored it for everyday carry with their new Prodigy Compact.

This downsized version of the original Prodigy blends classic 1911 craftsmanship with modern enhancements, creating a versatile and reliable handgun perfect for concealed carry or daily use.

Compact Design Meets Practical Features

The Prodigy Compact is available with either a 3.5” or 4.25” bull barrel, both engineered for accuracy and durability.

Built around a 15-round double-stack magazine, the gun features a compact polymer grip module mounted to a lightweight billet aluminum frame, giving it a slim, ergonomic feel without sacrificing capacity.

Springfield has also focused on reducing the overall footprint.

A shortened beavertail grip safety and a recontoured skeletonized hammer contribute to the handgun’s sleek, carry-friendly profile. With an unloaded weight of 25.5 ounces and overall dimensions of 7” in length and 5.1” in height, the Prodigy Compact is easy to handle and even easier to carry.

Precision Meets Durability

The frame, redesigned for compactness, is machined from billet aluminum and pairs perfectly with a forged steel slide and barrel.

The stainless-steel barrel, treated with a black DLC coating, is built in a bull profile, eliminating the need for a traditional bushing and enhancing its fit and performance.

Enhanced Controls for Everyday Use

Springfield kept user convenience in mind with the Prodigy Compact’s controls.

It features a bilateral manual thumb safety, a slide-stop lever in its traditional 1911 position, and a push-button magazine release located on the left side of the grip.

These familiar and intuitive controls ensure a smooth transition for anyone already accustomed to the 1911 platform.

Our next stop at SHOT Show 2025 was catching up with Nathan from Winchester, who gave us an inside look at some of their newest and most exciting products.

From cutting-edge shotgun shells to a revolutionary rimfire cartridge, Winchester is once again proving why they’re a leader in ammunition innovation.

Winchester Tungsten Super Shot (TSS) Shells

First up, we explored Winchester’s new lineup of Tungsten Super Shot (TSS) shotgun shells. These shells are a game-changer for hunters, thanks to their advanced tungsten-alloy material.

TSS boasts a density that’s 22% higher than standard tungsten and a whopping 56% more dense than lead. This added density translates to extended terminal velocities, the ability to use smaller shot sizes, and cleaner, more ethical kills.

The TSS Waterfowl and Turkey Load ammunition is available in a range of gauges, shot sizes, and shot weights, ensuring hunters can find the perfect match for their needs.

Nathan also walked us through Winchester’s groundbreaking new rimfire cartridge, the 21 Sharp.

RUGER FIREARMS

I recently had the chance to chat with Matt from Ruger Firearms, who gave me an inside look at their latest innovations: the Ruger RXM Pistol and a new twist on the classic 10/22 Rifle.

Let’s start with the RXM. This new striker-fired pistol is the result of a collaboration between Ruger and Magpul—two big names in the firearm industry.

During my recent visit to the Amend2 booth, I had the opportunity to speak with Michael, Amend2’s wholesale sales manager, who gave me an inside look at some of their newest offerings and best-selling products.

Michael alsos walked me through a lineup of their latest products, including custom printed AR-15 magazines available in the MOD2 and now MOD3 line. (See additional details below)

GLOCK FIREARMS

This year’s GLOCK booth showcased some impressive new products that caught my attention.

One standout was the GLOCK Performance Trigger, now available for .40 caliber and .22 LR models. Visitors got an up-close look at its precision on an X-RAY G17, a demo model with cutouts revealing the intricate engineering of GLOCK firearms.

GLOCK also unveiled a new line of 9mm pistols equipped with Aimpoint COA optics, offering improved accuracy and versatility. Another exciting addition was the GLOCK Tactical Light (GTL II), a powerful new accessory in their GLOCK+ lineup. (SEE MORE DETAILS BELOW)

Specially designed for GLOCK pistols with a mounting rail*, the all-new GLOCK Tactical Light II (GTL II) LED pistol light provides ~600 lumens for bright illumination and ~11,100 Candela for light concentration.

The GTL II features a high-quality aluminum housing with characteristic GLOCK serrations for better grip, seamlessly blending into the pistol design.

It is precisely matched to the length and width of the G19/G45 slide, offering optimal handling and comfort, whether carried or holstered.

KELTEC FIREARMS

Live from SHOT Show 2025 INDUSTRY DAY AT THE RANGE, I got my hands on the all-new KELTEC PR57 and was able to throw some rounds downrange!

Chambered in 5.7x28mm, the PR57 is an ultra-lightweight compact concealed carry pistol with a rotary barrel, an impressive 20-round capacity, and a unique top-loading design.

Magazine-less
The top-loading design makes the frame profile slim and compact. 20 rounds fit into the grip of the gun which can be manually inserted one at a time, or by using two of the provided 10-round stripper clips for a quick speed load.
